Canada Opens New Express Entry Pathway for Aviation Professionals
Canada’s 2026 Express Entry program now includes a Transport Occupations Category, making it easier for skilled aviation and transport professionals to achieve permanent residency. This new pathway addresses critical labour shortages across the country’s transportation industries — including aviation. Eligible aviation roles include:
- Flight Operations: Airline and commercial pilots, flight instructors
- Maintenance & Technical: Aircraft maintenance engineers (AME), avionics technicians, aircraft mechanics
- Airport & Operations: Airport coordinators, ground and ramp supervisors, cargo logistics staff, dispatchers
Why this matters for aviation employers:
- IRCC is now running targeted draws for key aviation roles such as pilots, flight instructors, aircraft mechanics, avionics technicians, and airport operations staff.
- This helps airlines, MROs, FBOs, and airports address persistent labour gaps in flight operations, maintenance, and ground/airport operations.
- Eligible candidates with at least one year of recent experience can be prioritized, even if they don’t have top CRS scores under general draws.
